We had been on the island of Sumatra for about a week before deciding to make our way to Lake Toba, which is one of the most interesting lakes in the world. Get this: it’s actually set inside of a volcano and the mountains around the lake are the caldera walls! As we were boarding the boat that would take us to Samosir Island in the middle of the lake, this breathtaking sunset appeared. This photo is completely unaltered, the colours were so unbelievable that nothing needed to be changed! Lake Toba was one of the best places we’ve ever visited.

  2. Hey Eric,

Lake Toba is a wonderful place. We didn’t have any issues, but that was because we were there back in 2009! Sorry I don’t have any current info on the situation. Maybe check out for some info.

    Happy Travels!
