When it comes to Tenerife holidays, there is so much more to see and do than lie on the beach or flop by the pool. If you’re heading here via a tour operator, such as The Co-operative Travel, check out their organised excursions and attraction tickets. Or hire a car and go your own way for the ultimate flexibility, and the chance to discover everything that’s great about this island.

Here are a few suggestions on how to make the most of Tenerife holidays, whatever you’re here for and whoever you’re with.

For Outdoorsy Types

Three little words: Teide National Park. Home of the majestic Mt Teide, Tenerife’s devastating (and thankfully dormant) volcano, this huge park is a treasure trove of geological wonders and spectacular scenery. From lava fields to bizarre twisting rock formations, and alpine-like scenery to knock-out ocean views, there’s plenty to discover in this natural stunner.

For Families

Siam Park is one of the largest water parks in Europe, so it’s got to be something special. It’s easy to spend a day here with the kids, while they slide and swoop down all manners of different flumes and you kick back on a sunbed, or join in the fun! There are stacks of different attractions for all ages, so prepare to have a wild ‘n watery good time.

For Animal Lovers

Loro Parque started life as a parrot sanctuary, and quickly grew to the huge wildlife centre it is today. See amazing animals up close and personal, like orcas, gorillas, sea lions, tigers, flamingos and of course, parrots. Numerous shows and demonstrations are held throughout the year – an incredible spectacle, especially for the little ones.

For Shopaholics

Head to Tenerife’s capital city, Santa Cruz, and indulge in its many high street shops, designer boutiques and independent stores where you can shop ’til you drop, before enjoying a pit stop at one of its pavement cafes or trendy bars. Bliss!

For Partiers

Tenerife has one of the biggest and best Carnivals in the world! People come from all over just before Lent in February to celebrate. Dressing up in masquerade, parading down the street and partying until the wee hours are just some of the things you’ll find yourself doing during this massive celebration. If you’re into parties, this is one you won’t want to miss.

For Beach-Bums

The beaches at Tenerife aren’t exactly pure white sand and clear blue seas, but they are definitely interesting in their own right. In the north you’ll find black sand beaches with pebbles and around the whole coastline you’ll see towering cliffs as a perfect backdrop!

There are so many stunning islands in our world, but Tenerife is definitely at the top! Whether you live in North America or Europe, it’s an easy flight over to the largest island in the Canary Islands. Book your flight, pack your bags and get ready for a very diverse and exciting vacation.
