Located just far enough away to avoid the madness that is Kuta, yet close enough to the surf town of Canggu Bali, you’ll find Seminyak. This suburb of Kuta is one of the coolest places on the southwestern coast, and while most of the beach towns do blend into one another, Seminyak still retains its own distinct vibe.
When figuring out where to stay in Seminyak, you’ll need to decide if you want to be in town withe the boutique shops and chic restaurants, or on the beach with the funky beach bars. Plus, your budget will dictate which Seminyak accommodation you’ll want to stay at.

There are literally hundreds of hotel options in Seminyak, so it may seem a bit overwhelming trying to decide which Seminyak accommodation you should choose. Hopefully this list helped you decide which lodging is the best for you. The good thing is that getting around Seminyak is easy, either by walking, or renting a scooter. If you can, try to walk along the beach as it’s more picturesque (and less busy) than walking on the streets.
Here are a few things to do in Seminyak during your stay:
- Double Six Beach – nice place for sunset and swimming (always check the local conditions before swimming)
- 707 Beach Bar – located further north, but a quick walk along the beach, you’ll find this beach bar with numerous bean bag chairs. It’s a fun place for sure!
- Check out Potato Head Beach Club – since the sea can be rough at times, many people head to beach clubs in Bali. This one is especially popular in Seminyak, with a large outdoor infinity pool, bean bag chairs, cabana for rent and lots of food and drink available.
- Learn to Surf – there are numerous surf schools and surfboards for rent along Seminyak beach. If you aren’t familiar with surfing, make sure you go out with a local guide.
- Visit Pura Petitenget – in Bali, there are 6 important temples along the sea, this is one of them. Make sure you dress and act appropriately (cover your legs and arms).
- Do Some Yoga – yoga is very popular in Bali, especially in the south, and in Ubud. There are numerous yoga studios around Seminyak, check out TripAdvisor and choose one that looks good to you.
- Watch Sunset – the sunsets here are gorgeous! Head down to the beach and sit on a towel, or watch from a chic beachside bar, it’s up to you.
- Dance the Night Away – Seminyak is known for its DJs, clubs and stylish nights out. There are numerous bars, lounges, and clubs to choose from. Click here to see some of the best.
- Walk the Beach – you can walk all the way to Canggu along the beach, and actually, it won’t take you very long. The sand is firm and easy to walk on, and once you reach Canggu, you can stop in for a cold coconut or a beer, before making your way back to Seminyak.
