Hey everyone! As you may have noticed, the site has been down for 24 hours as we’ve just had an extensive face lift… but we’re back now! The days of black and beige are gone and we’re now brighter than ever! We’ve been enlightened in both colour and content.
Our new tagline: Inspiring a life of freedom, travel & adventure is the new theme of our site and you’ll find new categories that will help you to start, sustain and enjoy this exciting type of lifestyle.
We’ll still be posting about our story as well but we now have new, fun categories like cuisine, musings and reviews.
Go ahead and surf around and have a look at some of the new stuff we’ve added. A few things to note:
The Destinations Page
We’ve created a new page which now has an interactive map of all the places we’ve been, so you can choose what destinations you’d like to read about. To get there, just click on “Destinations” in the menu bar above.
The Adventures Page
Here is a list we have complied of our favourite adventures to date. This page is definitely not finished and we’ll be adding some more soon. You can check this out by clicking Adventures in the menu bar, or from the right side of your screen.
New Sustaining Travel Section
We decided to create an entire category devoted to making money on the road, saving money while travelling and everything else a person needs to travel long-term. We’ve broken it down into different parts: Teaching English, Travel Blogging, House Sitting and More Money Making Methods. Head to the menu bar above, or on the right side of your screen and have a look!
There’s Much More!
We don’t want to ruin all of the surprises so just browse the site for a bit and have a look for yourself. We’ve added a lot of new features and plenty of new categories so that it’s easier to find what you want to read about.
Spot Any Problems?
We could really use your help guys. If you see any issues with the site, we’d love it if you could drop us an email and tell us what the problem is. Please tell us how the speed of your browsing experience is as well.
Also, let us know what you think! We’d love to hear your opinion of the new site and we REALLY appreciate constructive criticism… so don’t be shy.
Special Thanks:
We really have to take our hats off to Scott at Eldo Web Design for putting together such an awesome site for us. We’ve been working together with him for nearly 3 months and I’m sure he’s happy to have the site launch today! He’ll be on board for a couple of weeks yet so we’ll tell him about any changes / issues our readers point out and he’ll fix us up.
As always, we appreciate every comment, email, like, tweet, +1 and share! You guys have helped us a lot and without our fantastic followers, there wouldn’t even be a Goats (or Sheep)Â On The Road.
Again guys, tell us what you think! Have a browse around and comment wherever you’d like to tell us how you feel about our new look.Â
Thanks again for reading!
WOW! What a transformation! You must be chuffed with this…havn’t had a good look around yet, but this is my initial reaction 🙂
Yay! Looks great, guys. I definitely like the new, brighter look. Keep on bringing the awesome!
I love how bright and clean the new site is! And everything so far looks perfect to me. Huge congrats, you guys <3
Hey guys, love the new site design!
I’m currently redesigning my blog as well, but I’m a bit bummed to see that I’m using almost the same blue as you are.
But in a totally different color combination:)
I really like the new logo and the end of the page image!
Now on for some more exploring:)
Thanks Anna! Ya, we’re both so stoked at how it all turned out. It was a long process, but worth it!
Cheers 🙂
Thanks Sam! Glad to hear you like what you see 🙂 We’re loving the bright look as well.
Thanks Silvia! We almost can’t believe that our site used to be black! Such a difference.
Happy Travels!
Thanks Sofie! That’s exciting that you’re doing a redesign as well.
As for the blue colour..I guess great minds think alike? haha. There are only so many colours in the world. I can’t wait to see what you come up with on your site. Glad to hear you like the footer image, Nick actually created that 🙂
Cheers!
I didn’t have a chance to explore the new site extensively, but I have to say I’m a huge fan of the color change. You have great content so I enjoyed following your blog, but I definitely prefer a lighter color scheme over a darker one.
Thanks for following us during our “black” times Kara! haha. We definitely agree that the lighter scheme is easier for people to read and is more welcoming 🙂
We appreciate the comment!
My site now is blue as well and I really wanted to keep blue as I think it’s a relaxing color… plus it makes me think of the sky:-)
My redesign is almost ready as far as the actual design goes, but I’m kind of on a soul search for my blog at the moment and I don’t want to release the redesign before that search is over:)
So cool that he made the footer image, looks really good! But you guys do look pretty tall next to those piramids 😀 I guess they’re in the distance:D
Love the new look – it’s quite fresh and sleek but also friendly and welcoming! And yes, easy to navigate 🙂 Great work!
Excellent! Glad to hear it. Thanks for the feedback Tim 🙂
I really like the looks of the site, but I really dislike that annoying pop up banner ad for Facebook, Twitter, etc. that comes down over what I am reading. And it won’t go away! I have to peek “under it” to finish reading the article. And if I click on Facebook, it switches me to a sign in page. And I lose my whole train of thought. Arrrrrgh!
HI Charlie,
Thanks for letting us know about that. The pop up for Facebook, Twitter and to subscribe to our site is supposed to pop up one time/week for new people to our site. Since you aren’t new and you are a subscriber to our website, you shouldn’t be seeing this message.
We still have quite a few kinks to work out and are sending a list of “bits” to our designer over the next few days 🙂
